Backpacking

To get ready for this adventure I have been doing a few things to get my legs in shape!

  1. walking around town with my backpack loaded with a couple of bricks.
  2. going to the rec to get my legs stronger.
  3. climbing the steps of the 11 story Admin Building a few times a week with my pack of bricks.

I’m so going for the nerdy backpacker award with my pack loaded with bricks and walking around town. Tonight Miles gets to go with me!

In the spring I’m heading to Arizona for a five day trek deep into the Grand Canyon. I’m excited for a few different reasons. I love a good back country trip because I leave behind everything society has taught me to value. On the trail I don’t have TV, music, car, computer…. I’ll leave it all behind in Bowling Green, Ohio. I’ll take shelter, water and food that will provide enough calories to supply the needed energy to keep me fueled for a great adventure. Nature is all the entertainment one needs on the trail and maybe for all of life. When I was last at the Grand Canyon I was a small kid standing on the rim of the canyon then walking back to a car to visit the next attraction. In March I’ll be walking a rocky trail for five days admiring the beautiful canyon and the Colorado River. It will be a great adventure. I’m taking my camera and a journal too.
